preparation for CNY is almost done.

by the time this post is published, i'll be at a home nail salon doing my nails for CNY. been here few years back to get my nails done for an event n'thought that it's not bad. am starting to have prejudice against fanciful nails on myself so i decided to get a simple french instead. is that a sign or something? i used to like those a lot! but now i think it's not practical.

went to shop for boy's clothes n'some other stuffs after school. hope he'll like'em. love spending time alone when you don't need to bother about other's opinion and where they wanna go. ended it with a dinner at \\din tai feng// love their xiao long bao n'shrimp fried rice.

had my split ends trimmed at Louis's last week.

said no to perming. maybe next year.

wrote down the blogposts i did in 2011 for this post and browsed through the photos i've taken throughout the last year. shocked at how little accomplishment i had. majority of my time was spent with boy's family. spent one year understanding boy's family, their character, behaviour and how they affect(ed) boy. not like he has any problems. it's just me being myself.

some of the things i did are the same as 2010. guess it's my habit?

permed my hair

for the past 2 CNY i've been perming my hair. Contrary to most's belief, permed hair's maintenance is lower than straight. before i permed, i'd spend >20min blow drying my hair straight whereas permed hair~ i only need to twist it like what you see in the photo and i'm ready to go!

since nye i've been feeling accompanied by body-ache and throbbing headache. the latter gets worst when i tilt my head (regardless in any directions) and every step i take i'd feel the pain passing upwards. the remedy to this torturing ache was lots of water and sleep before 11pm. i remember drinking 2 litres of water in school then going to the toilet for many times. Still aching but a lot better.

headed town w/ boy on new year's day and it was surprisingly quiet compared to what we imagined.

wore a new dress on new year's day. bought it weeks before but didn't wanna keep it till cny. can hardly not wear something new if i know i have it. did cny shopping and keep the dresses in another room.

thinly sliced chiku soaked in salt water for 1 hour, drain then fried. didn't make this on my own, mummykins bought it from the wet market but that's the way it's made, i guess, googled it.

before going to Ginza.B i told boy i always don't carry their chop card with myself and that i already have 2 at home sitting in the cardboard. when we reach, we see a note there about a new app that works like a chop card! like a digital chop card. cool!

Jell-O no Bake [Peanut Butter Cup] dessert

anything can take me away from programming. anything. there's nothing more upsetting than the idea of doing those codes n'making errors you don't know where it comes from n'how to solve it. i can really pay to make people do this nonsense for me but there really isn't much programming to do this time round. it's just, the idea of programming n'multiplying the work size in my head.

hope ya'had fun durin' Xmas! there wasn't any party for this Xmas at Boy's coz his folks went overseas n'boy didn't book out till friday night. how i love the crowd there last year. my family don't have a habit of celebrating Xmas let alone decoration so i only started celebrating it after i met boy x

this year, a rather poor Xmas, i couldn't buy anything better than a Michael Buble Xmas album n'guitar strings for him. though they say it's the thought that counts, i'm not a believer of that when i'm the one givin' the gift but i didn't have a choice. oh wells.

because 4s has a wonderful camera, i no longer (unless really necessary) bring camera(s) out. these photos were accumulated through last week coz i'm too lazy to leave home for any entertainment plus the last time i tried to go to Bugis via MRT, i waited for a good 20min. not gonna try again.

Was weighting the pros and cons to get a kindle since August. Not like I do it every single day but when I come across a tablet, I'll think of Amazon kindle then I came to conclusion that that I should I get one

but changed my mind when daddykins decided to get one for me.

Sista, Edelyn, said I if I hesitate means I don't need it that much afterall but I chose to go ahead with my feelings after Daphanie told me if you're constantly weighting an item's pros and cons, it means you want/ like it very much since that's the case, I should go ahead.

So I shut my eyes, clicked checkout my cart n'prayed that it'll be useful like how much I want it.

Some Thursday back I went to walked past Shin-Sapporo Ramen

From size to shape, I really don't like it but well, they are the ones

who bring me everywhere.

Decided to stop patronizing Dolish after I finish my package, the salon

doesn't feel like how it used to be - so dull n'unprofessional; changed in management.

Bought Pedi Egg to remove the dry skin that form on my feet. It's no mess

hair growth :(

Bought Bifesta's make-up remover after seeing XiaXue's advert.

What's better than a make-up remover which doesn't need you to wash your face after

use (I still wash my face afterwards coz I don't feel safe)?

The product don't seem to work on my waterproof mascara.

I love to remove my make-up while watching TV with my parents.

It's non-oily formula makes me feel better when I wanna finish the program before leaving the couch

for a bath.

Toilet roll is something used everyday and I don't know how many pay attention to the

quality of the one they get but I really dislike those that don't match their

dotted lines then leave the last piece looking like a cat torn it.

low fat content dough like egg tarts' crust.

After taking all the photos I realized I never take a photo of the end product but

the cake taste really good like orange flavoured version of the Bengawan solo's,

it has a cool centre too.

During the baking class my teacher told us some cakes which are sold at an extremely low price

e.g. $2 pandan chiffon cake, doesn't have any eggs. They added 'egg powder' for egg's

fragrance and loads of chemical rising agent.

A normal chiffon cake uses at least 4 eggs x butter x sugar x flour etc etc.

I'll blog about it after I complete my cinnamon roll tutorial x

Months ago I signed up for baking class with my aunt at the CC near my place

and it was postponed twice.

When it first started I doubt the teacher's ability n'well, I was wrong. She's really

sincere and kind. All our doubts are clarified upon asking.

It's the 3rd baking class today and she taught us how to bake cinnamon roll! Last

year I promised a twitter follower to bake it for Christmas so this weekend imma do it.

Not sure why, I feel a surge of pain at my chest when

my movement involves my upper body.

Be it a simple arm swing makes me feel like I'm taking a blow

from someone. Asked a couple of people n'they said I pulled a muscle

when I exerted to much strength.

Get to skip school for a rest day x

Spoilt for choice when it comes to app.

Reading the positive reviews, I secretly think they are written by the creator to

attract people to download their app so when I read, I scroll for the worst.

While I bought WhatsApp n'Save, most of the app I have

are f r e e. Love that word. Trying to keep my homescreen as organized

Held on to the phone (not literally, had it on speaker) for the longest time (20min) before I got to speak with M1's customer service. The lady ended up asking me to get my dad to the phone for verification. Thank goodness lady kept her word to call me back at 8.30am when my dad reached home.

When it comes to mobile phone there seems to be no other choice. I'd only think of Blackberry or Apple; no longer referred to as fruit we eat.

Well, there's still the other brands for mobile, like Samsung, Nokia etc but non of their performance come close to these fruits n'I think they are just extracting ideas from the fruits then put them together.

Apps became the no. 1 consideration factor when it comes to purchasing mobile which explains why 4 in 5 friends use an apple.

Previous post I mentioned I'm not interested w/ apps in the market but I found myself staying up for a while last night just to download apps.

Passed my FTT last wednesday (finally!) n'started on my driving lesson yesterday with a man called Ah Guan who used to be boy's instructor. His a chubby middle aged man who is probably in his 60s, I guess?

Stall for 6 - 8 times during the first 30min. Even the instructor went, "wah. I could die in here. I want my life." -____-" Later on he realized it's my fitflop to blame though it still stalk later on..

Learnt how to reverse, make a U-turn, change gear, accelerate and make a turn. Not sure if I can do it without him giving me the instructions.
For someone who stall so many times, he's really patient n'good tempered. He repeatedly tell me not to be nervous/ feel bad about making the engine stall coz if I know how to drive, I don't need to learn. Just need a few more lessons. YES! A few more.

& the best thing about my instructor,
he charges $36 for a 1hr 30min lesson x

Had some problem remembering when to step n'release the clutch and how much to release when I'm stepping on the accelerator. too much/ too little, it stall.

Nontheless, driving is fun.
Just remember to wear shoes with thin soles. Not heels or platform or anything along that line.

bought an express package from dolish but haven't been free enough to get a new colour n'don't want my nails to turn yellow again. thought of a quick way to remove my previous colour.

All you need is:

Aluminium foil x small cotton pad x nail polish remover

Soak your cotton with remover but not drippin' wet. Place it on your nail n'wrap it with the foil.

Complete all toes.

Remove by gently pressing n'pulling 'em out.

Tada! Clean toes. Almost. Remove the remaining lacquer on the side.

found time to make a baking post coz I've been busy. since I'm on MC, I thought why not do one? it's not the usual detailed step by step how-to post I did before coz this recipe is really easy n'I thought everybody will know how to do.

received this recipe from the baking class I attended with my aunt on wed.

National blender

Found this National blender at home daddykins bought 20 years back? it's still working n'turn my kitchen sugar into icing sugar x

blending sugar is my preference. if you don't have a blender, don't bother getting one.

SCS butter

this is the 3594985times imma say it. soften your butter. the whole block. recipe calls for 250g salted butter. salted or unsalted butter, I'll still use salted. it'll neutralize s o m e sweetness and if you're not a fan of butter, replace it with 250g of oil. any cooking oil.

Cream sugar n'butter.

grate half orange for zest

Mix it into the creamed butter n'sugar

mix

Add 4 eggs. One at a time.

doesn't matter if your batter looks like this, it is perfectly fine. add in 3tablespoons of squeezed orange juice [N O T * those from supermarket n'doesn't matter if there's pulp] n'sieved self-raising flour.

Bake at 190C for 20min

soft fluffy center w/ a hint of orange fragrance x

Fresh Orange Cake

Ingredients:
250g butter/ cooking oil
170g - 200g sugar
4 eggs
200g self-raising flour; sieved
zest of 1/2 orange
3 tablespoons of orange juice

Directions:

cream butter n'sugar in a bowl
add in orange zest n'one egg at a time. beating after each addition
add 3T orange juice. mix in sieved self-raising flour
spoon in to cupcake case
bake for 20minutes at 190C

FAQ

Can I use brown sugar?
Yes.

I don't have self-raising flour!
for every 100g of plain flour, add in 1teaspoon/5g of baking powder n'a p i n c h of salt if you're using unsalted butter.

ZEST?!
zest is the outer [colored]* part of the peel of citrus fruit. Do not grate the whites in! it tastes bitter.

How much batter do I fill my case with?
3/4

How do I check if my cake is done?
done when a stick/toothpick/chopstick/anything that can poke, goes in n'comes out clean.

I hate butter!
replace it with cooking oil. olive/ canola/ sunflower/ vegetable/ whatever oil you use to cook.

Can I not use orange?
Use lemon then but NO banana.

Orange juice from supermarket?
squeeze your own orange juice. commercial juice are sweet n'artificial

been wondering if it's time to make a switch to iPhone4S or stick to trusty Blackberry. I'm a BB girl coz iPhone apps don't entice me plus I know myself too well to be sold for that (I get bored of things faster than amber to red).

I've read both reviews on 9900 n'4S.

Most of the reviewers only bothered about how RIM is lacking functions here n'there x lousy camera whereas 4S's speaks of it's perfection. am worried about getting 4S coz iPhone is pretty infamous. 1 in 5 friends using it will tell me their iPhone died on'em/ the battery life sucks.

Think about 9900's high spec touchscreen.

Bought a BBQ pit from a home furnishing store in Suntec. Due to overwhelming joy, we didn't do any research n'believed what the sales person told us. When the delivery man came, he told us a different story about the pit.

The sales person told us we can replace the white stone you see inside with charcoal instead of using it or gas cylinder but delivery man explained otherwise like how we must use gas n'no charcoal coz the grill can't withstand the heat.

were told these are lava stone which is healthier and better than gas n'charcoal. it turned out to be ceramic stones..

It made us realized we can't rely on a sales person to tell us about a product. furthermore when I googled for the pit, there was a site offering the same pit for $200 lesser and the salesman from the suntec store readily gave us the difference as discount. Before that he said, $50 was the best discount he could offer.

Now the pit is back in their store while we had to use a tiny one for BBQ :(

The extraction only took 7 minutes. supposed to be faster but the tooth was bigger than expected. only felt a tinge of pain when he injected anesthesia n'exerted pressure on the tooth to break it into two. sounds painful but it was perfectly alright. stitches was painless too!

yesterday a 'tea picker' (just like calling the peeps there 'tea picker') ask me if I knew where is TWG from. to much surprise, it's Singapore. However, they adopted the French concept which is pretty obvious huh..

Before I started to read more about tea, I was only aware of green tea, red tea n'black tea. Thought that was the end and there's only 4 types of tea including 'tie kwan yin' which was famous among Chinese drama.

I was awed by the tins of tea displayed in TWG, I didn't dare place any order on them for fear of making a fool out of myself but after the 'tea picker's' recommendation we decided to try Sweet France, a mixture of green tea with exotic flowers and chamomile. Love it's sweet floral refreshing scent.

So I bought a tin of 50g for Boy as his POP gift...

met the gals, Daphanie n'Dawn last Friday for buffet at Nihon Mura. Life is good being a student. we receive discount for buffets, movies n'fast foods. I was impressed by how much they could finish while I was too full to even smile. like my tummy gonna explode from the expansion. those food kept me full even till bedtime!

been feeling the pain from bunions I got from wearing flats? they are the only thing I wear recently. thank god for Fitflop, they're the best footwear technology I've come across so far. could shop for hours w/o feeling pain. quite embarrassed to say I have aching knee joint after hours of standing/ walking.

Ordered a batch 12 butterscotch rainbows from Jessica after seeing beautiful peektures posted on her blog n’online. Everyone who ordered spoke well of her skills so much so I dreamed of myself taking a bite. That was how much I wanna try!

I mailed her w/o any particular designs in mind so she suggested 12 pretty flowers. She didn’t mention huge. I was impressed by the size n’design of the flowers.

These cupcakes received lots of compliment.

The combination between the icing n’cake was really good. You don’t need to worry about the sweetness like what is sold outside. Worth the $57 x

woke up at 8.30am for breakfast at Dempsey x Movie @ NEX before boy booked it at night. been waking up at 8am n’going to bed at 10pm so I’ll be able to wake up earlier during the weekends for better things. it takes more than I thought to force myself to fall asleep n’continue sleep when I wake up halfway for no apparent reason.

surprised by the queue waiting for tables when we reached there but the queue was made up of mostly foreigners. good to see so many waking up early w/ their kids or dogs (I typed gods -___-”).

Forgot what is it called but it’s at the top of the menu. a typical Australian breakfast w/ sausages, bacon, bread n’eggs cooked just the way you want it. you’re sure to leave the place full n’satisfied.

the pancakes I made at home is always flat as the pan. there’s something about pancake’s fluffiness that makes it so hard to achieve. this however is the fluffiest I’ve ever tried and desiccated coconut contributed to it’s sweetness.

took time out to change my bedsheet to the one I’ve got from Taka sale. a good 510 TC. It takes a >360TC to be considered luxury. I’m only able to spot one based on it’s label. by touch? almost impossible. they all feel the same to be but it’s just the thought of 510 TC that made it feels smoother.

couldn’t help sneezing to the dust that layered in my room n’all that fallen hair. what thick tresses we girls have to fill up 2 wiper sheets. Can’t wait for Thursday. Boy’s booking out for his 1st time. as excited as he is. I bought a new dress n’wedge to go along x

what’s in my bag when I’m running an errand for mummykins. she gets really horrible during that time on the month :( I’m still looking for a remedy for her. She’s too busy for yoga n’I'm a bad teacher.

yes, u see the Twilight series here but I haven’t touch them for a year. I’m halfway through eclipse n’breaking dawn is covered in brown spots. one of my gf told me eclipse was the most uninteresting book in the saga that’s why it took her 2 days to finish. Nv a book took me lesser than 2 weeks. I’m a slow reader.

Today is the day where boy enlist for NS but I couldn’t send him off n’watch him get his haircut. Gonna make a trip down to CDC to book my FTT. It dawned on me this afternoon how reliant I was on Boy for driving me around when I felt depress after lunch.

Before I worked at F1, I didn't understand why many is a fan of beer. Later I learnt they love it's fragrance and compatibility w/ food, was told beer tummy does not exist. It's beer's ability to increase your appetite causing you to eat more.

Hope there'll be more beer event coming up so I'll know more about it!

received a request on Formspring asking me to do a post on what I wear to school. I'm really not good at fashion. u'll know more from ppl watching in town compared to seeing what I wear. my clothes only fill half of my closet, the rest is taken up by a huge closet organizer so that makes a whole lot of sense why having ur own room is a good thing. you get a whole stretch of closet to yourself. be happy ppl!

ok, u only see 4 sets of clothes here coz I'm on my 3rd year and classes are held 4 out of 5 days, that 1 day is supposed to be spent doing FYP but I just sleep in or enjoy the quiet malls <3

got the top from Blogshop City @ City Plaza and months later saw some blogshop selling the same thing. just shop at City Plaza and forget about waiting. denim from levis bought from stores 2 years back. wore that for my first class and still wearing it.

that's not my hood, took it from sis's closet. only piece I can squeeze into coz she's really skinny. like literally skin and bones.

guess the reason why there was a long Q at Uniqlo when they first open in SG is their quality & affordability. when it comes to clothes, I'll pick comfort over fashion which explains why things I wear is like -____-" wonder why can't both comes together. got that high waist pants from flea market in school. been hoping they come out w/ the next flea but NO!!!

it was Boy's graduation day and soon he'll be in NS :( cest' la vie. top and bottom from topshop. necklace from FEP. And that shiny reflective forehead? u can't get'em anywhere.
